We are excited to share that our lab presented four posters at the American Physiological Society (APS) Summit, and three of them were recognized as Abstracts of Distinction by the APS Endocrinology & Metabolism Section and the Muscle Biology Section. Congratulations to Sung Gi Noh, Siyun Kim, and Minje Ji for presenting their outstanding work and representing our team so well.
2025
- Congratulations to Dr. Kwon on securing an USDA NIFA Grant to study Mitochondrial function and methylation: Potential mechanisms for poor growth in sheep.
- Welcome Minje Ji! Minje is from South Korea and has joined the lab as a doctoral student in the Department of Kinesiology.
- Congratulations, Sung Gi! He has received an offer for a postdoctoral fellowship and will be joining Dr. Russell Hepple’s lab at the University of Florida in December.
- Congratulations, Siyun! Siyun successfully defended his thesis project titled ‘Bacteroidota-derived Glycine Lipids Restore Vascular Function and Skeletal Muscle Mitochondrial Capacity in Diet-induced Metabolic Dysfunction.’ He will continue his doctoral program in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut.
2024
- Congratulations, Sung Gi! He successfully completed the doctoral comprehensive exam and is preparing his dissertation proposal.
- Congratulations, Dr. Laura Mangone! Laura successfully defended her dissertation project titled ‘Vascular Dysfunction in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): The Role of Mitochondrial-derived Reactive Oxygen Species.’ She will be starting Adjunct Professor position in the Department of Kinesiology at the Southern Connecticut State University.
- Congratulations to Dr. Kwon on securing an USDA Hatch Capacity Grant to study the Effects of Black Elderberry Supplementation on Physical Inactivity-induced Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and Endothelial Dysfunction.
